The Details Known Regarding the Those Lost of the Bondi Shooting
A minimum of 16 individuals perished and over 40 were wounded when attackers opened fire at a Hanukah event at Bondi Beach, an attack Australian police have labeled a terrorist attack.
As of the newest reports, authorities have confirmed the death toll stands at 16, including one of the alleged attackers. Additionally, 42 wounded individuals were transported to medical facilities.
Those who died have not yet been officially identified, but authorities state their ages are between 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
London-born clergyman Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Described as a father of five children, he served as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Relatives and friends spoke of him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very kind and sociable person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, lose his life in this way?” a relative remarked.
Schlanger and his wife celebrated the arrival of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She recounted the moments leading up to the shooting, stating they were standing when the shooting began. “He moved to protect me because he wished to be near me,” she recalled.
The husband and wife were both survivors of the Holocaust, having experienced immense hardship in their childhood. They had later moved to Australia from Ukraine.
Dan Elkayam
The French foreign ministry have confirmed that French national Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Officially, the Foreign Minister said that France stood with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This cowardly attack is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must put a stop to,” the message read.
One Child
A 10-year-old girl who was rushed to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
An Israeli citizen was also killed in the incident, according to multiple sources referencing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
Of the 42 people taken to hospital, many remain receiving treatment, with several in a critical state. The injured comprise two officers who attended the scene.
A wounded man is a bystander who attempted to intervene to confront one of the gunmen. Described as a local hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. Sources state he was injured and is receiving treatment in hospital.
Communicating, he described the incident as an “utter carnage,” but also noted the actions of those who came to assist. He said he believed it was a “stroke of luck” he was alive.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was another casualty in the attack. He described he listened to “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it penetrated my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I’ve been shot myself. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
