The tall defender A nuisance from dead balls, typically, could serve as another option to his teammate at the back rather than paired with him. One wayward ball later in the match almost led to the first goal from Albania. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Played in a high spot on the right while also did plenty of dirty work. Showed glimpses of brilliance and dragged a shot over. Withdrawn towards the end for a teammate, a fellow player, following a yellow card. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Had the team's clearest opportunity of the first half, his strike well saved from the opposing goalkeeper. As a teammate hanging back, he had to offer an outlet down the right side although his balls from the touchline were hit and miss. Replaced with 15 to go. 6/10

The captain The match-winner scoring two more strikes for his country. His first a typical close-range tap-in while the second a classy header having drifted away away from the opposition. At 32, he continues to improve and England stand a real opportunity in the upcoming tournament with him up top. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Struggled to make an impact from the left. Had a good opening following a pass by Bellingham but Strakosha denied him. Rashford made much more of influence after coming on. 5
