Performer Denies Anti-Vaxxer Stance Following Lending His Voice To Contentious Covid Feature
The "Taken" star has lent his vocal talents to a feature-length documentary that questions the legitimacy of immunizations and praises former cabinet secretary the political figure.
The Film's Disputed Basis
Titled "Plague of Corruption," the film is adapted from a popular book co-authored by a disgraced researcher, who gained notoriety during the health crisis for assertions that the virus was linked to a faulty batch of the influenza shot.
Her collaborator, a producer, has previously authored books with controversial figure the Infowars host. The producer wrote online celebrating Neeson's role in the film.
A Strong Rebuttal
The team of Neeson have released a statement strongly denying claims that he subscribes to anti-immunization views.
"Everyone can recognize that unethical practices can exist within the drug industry, but that should never be conflated with opposition to vaccines," the statement explains. "He is not, and remains not, anti-vax. His considerable work with Unicef reinforces his consistent support for public-health initiatives."
The statement continued that the actor did not shape the documentary's messaging and that questions about its content ought to go to the filmmakers.
Central Claims In the Feature
As presented, the voiceover read by Neeson makes several provocative claims:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to health authorities.
- It posits that "research has become deeply politicised."
- Kennedy is shown claiming, "The core flaw with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- The narration takes aim at Covid lockdowns, claiming they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it cites a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "risky trials."
Historical Controversy and Recent Disputes
The film includes a past television report about clinical trials on children, which was afterwards the focus of a BBC apology by the corporation for editorial breaches.
Recently, RFK Jr called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its longstanding position that there is no causal relationship between immunizations and autism. This assertion is echoed in the documentary, even with a recent study from the World Health Organisation stating no connection has been found.
A Previous Record of Endorsement
Standing in contrast to the documentary's tone, Neeson has formerly shown firm endorsement for vaccines in his capacity as a Unicef global ambassador.
Previously, he called vaccines as "a remarkable triumph," adding that "The conversation about vaccines in the past few years has overlooked how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest human endeavors in history."
The documentary concludes with Neeson's script proclaiming, "This marks not the conclusion of our journey. Rather, it is the dawn of a new chapter."
