Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
